Removing Pharmaceuticals and Hormones from Wastewater

"Scientists have found that certain sewage treatments remove high levels of pharmaceuticals and hormones from wastewater, which could pose a threat to aquatic life. Treatment plants that use a combination of purifying methods followed by reverse osmosis do a good job of removing chemicals that might harm such life, researchers from the University of Wisconsin-Madison told the American Chemical Society meeting in Philadelphia on Wednesday." - excerpt from an article from the Scripps Howard News Service, 8/25/04.
