Florida Taxpayers Are Subsidizing Vulnerable Coastal Construction

"...Citizens Property Insurance Company, Florida's last-resort insurer for homeowners rich and poor, is in trouble. The [Florida State] Legislature addressed this issue last month, voting to spend almost a billion dollars to shore up the company's losses because of hurricanes... So it occurs to me that if people with more money than brains want to live on the beach, they should do so on their own dime, and people who live inland shouldn't have to foot the bill.
