Surfrider Foundation Has a Long History of Working to Protect Our Coasts from Oil Spills
- "In 2010, the Department of the Interior announced a ban on oil and gas drilling in federal waters off the Atlantic Coast until 2017. This was the latest in a series of efforts to limit development off the ecologically sensitive U.S. coasts." - excerpt from National Geographic article 46 Environmental Victories Since the First Earth Day. Surfrider Foundatiion played a major part in this victory, as well as the more recent victory that again halted plans to drill off the Atlantic Coast.
