Reef Friendly Sunscreens

Research continues to validate that two common chemicals found in sunscreen - Oxybenzone and Octinoxate - have severe impacts on coral reef ecosystems, and can cause coral bleaching in warm water environments. Locals, tourists, and marine recreationists in coastal environments are strongly encouraged to use "reef friendly" sunscreens, which don't contain these chemicals. Learn more about ongoing research and impacts of certain sunscreen types from the Haereticus Environmental Laboratory.
