Big Public Reaction Against Planned Sonar Deployment by Navy

"Never in my 23 years in Congress has there been so many responses on one issue." Quote from Rep. Patsy Mink of Hawaii, at a Congressional subcommittee hearing on marine mammal protection. She was referring to the Navy's planned deployment of ultra loud sonar in the ocean and the public's opposition to the Navy's plans because of the harm the sonar system would do to whales.
