The Coast Around Surfrider Headquarters in Southern California
- "The coast of Southern California is bordered mostly by low sea cliffs. A few terraces occur alongside coastal plains and deltas, as, for example, in the Los Angeles area and near Ventura. A series of ridges and terraces extend inland from the coast, such as Point Loma, the Soledad Mountains, and the San Pedro Hills. The Santa Monica Mountains follow the coast north of Los Angeles." (Excerpt from the book, The Audubon Society Nature Guides: The Pacific Coast, by Bayard and Evelyn McConnaughey, Alfred A. Knopf press, 1992, pg. 23)
