Tidal Ranges
- "The tidal range is the difference between the water height at high tide and low tide. On the open ocean coasts, the tidal range is usually between 6-10 ft (2-3m). Seas that are almost surrounded by land, such as the Mediterranean, have hardly any tidal range at all. In some bays and river mouths, the tidal range can be as great as 56 ft (17m)." (Excerpt from the book, The Ocean Atlas, by Anita Ganeria, published by Dorling Kindersley, 1994, pg. 51)
