CA Shoreline Armoring - The Bad and Rad from Surfrider's State of the Beach 2002
- In California, shoreline armoring increased from about 26 miles to 130 miles from 1971 to 1990, a 500 percent increase in beach destroying seawalls. Two strong El Nino winters have occurred since 1990, undoubtedly adding to this total. (Source: Griggs, Gary B., James E. Pepper, and Martha E. Jordan.
