Serious Environmental Problems with Farmed Salmon

"The fact is, serious environmental problems are associated with salmon farming. Salmon aquaculture pollutes coastal waters and when farmed salmon escape, they can imperil wild salmon. In Maine, for example, numerous escaped farmed salmon are interbreeding with the few remaining wild salmon." (Excerpt from Dr. Rebecca Goldburg, in the article, "The Perils of Farmed Salmon," Environmental Defense Newsletter, July 2002)
