Important Coastal Tract Purchased for Protection in Mendocino County, CA
- "The sale [to the State of California of 7,334 acres for $26 million] completes a link of 60,000 acres of public land along the Mendocino Coast, giving black bears, mountain lions, and other wildlife corridors to roam between existing parks and preserves. The last eight miles of the [Big River], where briny pickleweed grows, had been the longest unprotected estuary in Northern California."
