Enforcement of Clean Water Act Laws Especially Weak Under the Bush Administration
- "For example, the Justice Department filed fewer than 8 lawsuits per year alleging violations of the Clean Water Act in the Bush Administrations first six years, compared to about 19 annually in the last three years of the Clinton Administration. ... A recent report by the EPAs own Inspector General examined serious violations of the Clean Water Act at 56 facilities, and found that the enforcement response by EPA or states was either weak or delayed in all 56 cases." - excerpt from the report, Paying Less to Pollute: Environmental Enforcement under the Bush Administration, by the Environmental Integrity Project.
