Surfrider Kauai Chapter's Volunteer Net Patrol
- From the Surfrider Foundation Kauai Chapter: "... Kaua'i beaches receive an incredible amount of marine debris each year. Not only is marine debris a major eye sore, but it affects marine mammals, seabirds and corals... In our clean-up efforts, we have found that a large part of the marine debris that washes up on local beaches is derelict fishing gear - in the form of fishing lines and nets... Once a month, the [Surfrider Kauai] chapter dispatches Net Patrol. What we need from you, is about one hour of your time, once a month... Meet on Kuhio Hwy in Kapa'a- just North of Kawaihau Rd. Look for the Surfrider banner! 2:30 p.m.,Thursday, January 24, 2008. Please bring sunscreen, hat, and water. For more info, contact Barbara Wiedner at 635-2593."
