Keeping Alive Our Inborn Sense of Wonder
- "[Rachel] Carson wrote that she would endow every child with "a sense of wonder so indestructible that it would last throughout life." However, "if a child is to keep alive his inborn sense of wonder, he needs the companionship of at least one adult who can share it, rediscovering with him the joy, excitement, and mystery of the world we live in." - quote from the Environmental Protection Agency news release of 3/18/08; the EPA and partners are holding an intergenerational 'Sense of Wonder" poetry, essay and photo contest "that best express the "Sense of Wonder" that you feel when observing the sea, the night sky, forests, birds, wildlife, and all that is beautiful to your eyes."
