Seagrass and Salt Marsh Coastal Ecosystems Receive Scant Attention by the Media

"They found that seagrass ecosystems receive the least attention of the four coastal ecosystems in the media, accounting for 1.3 percent of the media reports. Salt marshes received greater attention, with 6.5 percent. Mangroves received 20 percent, but the dominant focus was on coral reefs, which were the subject of almost three in every four media reports on coastal ecosystems (72.5%)." - excerpt from the SeaWeb Ocean Update from July 2008.
