Shark Attacks on the Pacific Coast are Quite Rare

"From 1900 to the present there have been 180 authenticated unprovoked shark attacks reported from the Pacific Coast of North America. The California Department of Fish and Wildlife reports: "Since 1950, there have been 101 white shark attacks on humans in all of California. Of those, 13 have now been fatal."" - excerpts from the Beachapedia article White Sharks in California.
