Annual Ocean Report Card Issued
- "The scores for 2013 have just been released for the Ocean Health Index. The score this year is 65 out of 100 indicating we have much room for improvement before we are enjoying optimal benefits from the ocean in a way that can continue for decades to come. Some of the findings are alarming. Food Provision scored only 33 out of 100. How well we manage our Wild Caught Fisheries (31) and how much we expand sustainable Mariculture (26) will determine our ability to supply protein to billions of people. These low scores serve to alert us to a serious problem." - excerpt from news release from Ocean Health Index.
