Cycle of a sea breeze. Sea breezes usually occur during the heat of the day, with the wind blowing perpendicular towards the coast.

A sea breeze is a wind blowing from the ocean towards land caused by differential heating of the sea and land. As air above the land surface is heated by radiation from the Sun, it expands and begins to rise, being lighter than the surrounding air. To replace the rising air, cooler air is drawn in from above the surface of the sea.
