Newport Beach Against Sewage Dumping in Offshore Waters
- The Newport Beach City Council in Southern California voted last week to oppose a controversial waiver that allows the Orange County Sanitation District to violate the Clean Water Act and dump 236 million gallons of insufficiently treated sewage just 4 1/2 miles offshore the Newport Beach coast. Newport Beach joined Huntington Beach and Seal Beach as local coastal cities opposed to the waiver.
