EPA Wants to Weaken the Clean Water Act Again

"EPA is issuing an interpretive statement and a proposed rule in response to questions raised about Clean Water Act (CWA) permitting requirements for the application of pesticides to or over the nation's waters. The statement reflects our belief that a CWA permit is not required where application of a particular pesticide to or over water is consistent with requirements under the Federal Insecticide, Fungicide, and Rodenticide Act (FIFRA)." - the quoted excerpt is from the EPA's own web page at http://cfpub.epa.gov/npdes/home.cfm?program_id=41#pesticides You can give public comment on the EPA's new, proposed weaker interpretation of the Clean Water Act at the EPA Docket page until April 4, 2005: http://docket.epa.gov/edkpub/do/EDKStaffCollectionDetailView?objectId=0b0007d480178caf
