Inventory and Perception of Status
There's not much in the way of ridable surf along the coast of Mississippi. In fact, the state may win the prize for the least surf of any ocean coastal state. A series of barrier islands off the coast do a pretty good job of blocking any swell. Of course, there are rumors of swells wrapping around the ends of those islands, so for the adventurous surfer with access to a boat.....
Recognition by State
Mississippi does not officially recognize surfing as an economic, cultural, or recreational resource.
