Websites
Rhode Island's Coastal Zone Management Program Website is:
http://www.crmc.state.ri.us/
The Rhode Island Coastal Resources Management Council (CRMC), the state agency that works under the Coastal Zone Management Act to implement federal and state policies and regulations in Rhode Island, has recently developed a new Website. There are useful links to specific topics, publications, regulations, maps, and education/outreach. The Website is well designed, informative, and easy to use.
In addition, there are a number of other Rhode Island programs with informative Websites about the work being done to foster research, education, and management of coastal ecosystems. Several of these are identified below in the context of the beach health indicator sections to which they pertain. Probably the key site in this regard is the Rhode Island Department of Environmental Management (RIDEM) Website. This Website is well organized and easy to use.
Content is somewhat limited in terms of the beach health indicators, but you can get some information on beach access, water quality, and beach erosion.
The RIDEM Website provides a link to number of reports, brochures, and other publications that are available online. Among these are the RIDEM 2010 Work Plan and Report and the Integrated Water Quality Monitoring reports.
The RIDEM Website provides links to broad range of regulations, policies, and guidelines.
A number of interactive maps are available directly through the RIDEM Website.
The RIDEM Website has numerous links to state, regional, and national organizations.
Both the RIDEM and CRMC Websites appear to be up-to-date.
